Most people reserve hot chocolate for December and the super cold winter months, but we drink it all year long! In fact, we drink it almost every night. However, we love pumpkin spice as much as the next person. So, in the fall, we enjoy the best of both worlds with this low-sugar hot chocolate with pumpkin spice! Our kids love it as we do, and it makes for fun family movie night treats or just a tasty way to wind down at the end of a long day.

Labeled ingredients for pumpkin spice hot chocolate on a white marble countertop.
  • Milk – We prefer whole milk for the richest flavor and creamiest consistency, but any regular or non-dairy milk will work.
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder – Use regular or Dutch-processed cocoa. Dark cocoa powder or cacao powder may be used.
  • Pumpkin Spice Syrup – We use our homemade pumpkin spice syrup for a sweet, spiced flavor without any grittiness we get with plain pumpkin pie spice

Topping Ideas and Serving Suggestions

We always top our pumpkin spice hot chocolate with a healthy dollop of whipped cream or a generous handful of marshmallows. You can never go wrong with a dash of pumpkin pie spice, chocolate shavings, chocolate syrup, or even caramel sauce, either!

Then, add a few no-bake pumpkin protein balls, a slice of easy pumpkin bread, or a baked pumpkin donut for an extra special treat.
