  • Milk – We use whole milk for a rich flavor and creamy consistency. However, fat-free Fairlife milk may be substituted for the 2%, with little difference in texture. Substitute dairy-free milk if needed. We recommend a higher-fat milk like cashew milk.
  • Protein PowderVanilla whey protein powder works best for this. We use the Peachie Spoon protein. (Use code: HappiHomemade to save at checkout!)
  • CollagenYonder collagen is our fave. (Use code: HappiHomemade to save at checkout!)
  • Strawberries – Use fresh or frozen strawberries!

How to Make Ninja Creami Strawberry Ice Cream

Frozen strawberries in unblended ice cream for a Ninja Creami.
  1. Combine. Place the ice cream base ingredients in a Creami container, and mix until smooth. We use a stick blender or handheld frother to make sure everything blends evenly! Add the strawberries and freeze overnight.

2. Blend. Thaw at room temperature for a few minutes, and run the Creami on the “Lite” function twice. Add the mix-ins, and run the device again, if desired. Enjoy!

Mix-In Ideas and Serving Suggestions

One of the best things about Creami recipes is getting to choose the mix-ins! We love to include chocolate chips, chocolate-covered strawberries, or low calorie brownies for a chocolate strawberry vibe. Or, add cheesecake pieces, double chocolate oatmeal cookies, protein reese cups, edible cookie dough pieces, sprinkles, or chopped protein bars. Everything goes!

Then, enjoy your ice cream straight from the pint, or scoop it into a cone. It’s also fun served between chocolate chip cookies, over gluten-free chocolate waffles, or as a sundae.

Ingredients

Ice Cream

  • 1 cup 2% Fairlife milk
  • 1 serving (28-34 grams) vanilla whey protein powder (we use Peachie Spoon, “HappiHomemade” saves at checkout)
  • 1 serving (10 grams) flavorless collagen (we use Yonder collagen, “HappiHomemade” saves at checkout)
  • 3/4 cup fresh or frozen frozen strawberries, halved (about 6 strawberries)

Mix Ins (optional)

  • M&Ms, cookies, graham crackers, chocolate chips, chocolate bar, peanut butter cups, cookie dough, sprinkles, protein bar

Instructions

  • Place the milk, protein powder and collagen powder in a Ninja Creami pint container and mix with a stick blender until smooth. A handheld frother may be used if it has enough power.
1 cup 2% Fairlife milk, 1 serving (28-34 grams) vanilla whey protein powder (we use Peachie Spoon, “HappiHomemade” saves at checkout), 1 serving (10 grams) flavorless collagen (we use Yonder collagen, “HappiHomemade” saves at checkout)
  • Add the fresh or frozen strawberry halves to the protein milk.
3/4 cup fresh or frozen frozen strawberries, halved (about 6 strawberries)
  • Freeze the pint on a level surface in the freezer, with the lid off, for 24 hours (see notes). Freezing with the lid on creates a hump at the top of the ice cream. However, sometimes this happens no matter what.
  • Remove the pint from the freezer and let it thaw for 10 minutes at room temperature or run the sides of the container under warm water for 1-2 minutes. If the top of your ice cream is not flat, scrape down any bumps or uneven texture with a knife (see notes).
  • Place the pint in the outer bowl of the Creami and lock the lid on top. Place the bowl assembly on the Creami motor base, twist the handle right to raise the platform, and lock it in place.
  • Select the Lite Ice Cream function two times. You will need to unlock and lock the Creami bowl in between the two cycles.
  • If adding mi-ins, use a spoon to create a small hole in the center, about 1½ inches wide. Place the candies/cookies in the center. Lock the lid into place and select the Mix-In function.

Notes

Ingredient Tips – Fat free Fairlife milk may be substituted for the 2%, with little difference in texture.
Prep Tips – Don’t overfill the pint container. The ice cream will expand in volume as it spins so don’t worry if it looks like the pint isn’t initially full. While 24 hours is the typical time frame for freezing your pint, once you’re familiar with the process, you can experiment with shorter freezing times and adjust as needed. Depending on freezer temps, you may only need 12-18 hours. If a hump forms on the top of your ice cream while freezing, shave down the bump or unevenness with a knife before processing. Your machine can be ruined if the ice cream is not flat on top.
Mix-in Tips – Smash candies (even M&Ms) or break cookies and graham crackers into smaller pieces. The Creami will not crush them small enough in Mix-In mode.
Nutrition is calculated for the ice cream only, no mix-ins.

This high protein ice cream is so fruity yet so creamy and delicious. Sometimes I add a few golden Oreos, but most of the time I enjoy it as is!
