What Are Thanksgiving Sliders?

Thanksgiving leftover sliders are simply sliders, or small sandwiches, made with Thanksgiving leftovers. Hearty and filling, they’re a fun way to repurpose your holiday meal so you don’t get bored.

Everyone has their own version of the sliders, meaning you can mix and match whatever you have on hand. No matter what you really can’t go wrong!

The best part is, there’s no cooking required. You already did that part! Just layer, and serve!

Recipe Ingredients

Below is an overview of the ingredients and instructions for this recipe. Please be sure to scroll down to the recipe card below for the complete details.

  • Turkey – Use leftover carved turkey if you have it. Or, substitute deli turkey or turkey burgers.
  • Turkey Stuffing
  • Homemade Cranberry Sauce
  • Dinner Rolls – We use sweet Hawaiian rolls or poppy seed rolls, but any dinner rolls, sandwich bread, or even pita bread you have on hand will work.
  • Cheese – We love the mild flavor of Provolone, but cheddar cheese, Pepper Jack, or even Monterrey Jack will taste great!
  • Mayo – This is optional but adds a delicious rich flavor.
  • Rosemary Sprigs – Again, this is optional, but highly recommended!

How to Make This Leftover Thanksgiving Turkey Sliders Recipe

  1. Prepare the bread. Slice your dinner rolls in half, and spread mayo inside each roll.
  2. Layer. Add the turkey, cheese, cranberry sauce, and leftover stuffing, and top each slider with a bun.
  3. Serve. Push a rosemary sprig through each sandwich if desired. Enjoy cold, or arrange the sandwiches on a baking dish, cover it with aluminum foil, and bake just until warmed through.

Pro-Tip: For a richer flavor, feel free to brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter, and sprinkle dried onion or poppy seeds on top.

Possible Variations

Common Questions

Do I have to use turkey?

No! Feel free to use ham or chicken if preferred.

Can I make Thanksgiving sliders ahead of time?

These sliders are best served right away. However, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Just keep in mind that the longer they sit, the more likely they are to become soggy.

What should I serve with these sliders?

This recipe is plenty filling enough to serve as a complete meal on its own! However, you can pair your sliders with any other leftovers like green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, or even coleslaw to make them even more filling.

Assembling Tips – Pierce the rosemary sprig through the top of the bun through the slider. If the turkey burgers and cheese slices are too large for the dinner rolls, use a round cookie cutter or the top of a drinking glass to size down the burger and cheese.
