Labeled ingredients for easy egg roll in a bowl on a white marble countertop.
  • Ground Turkey Sausage – Feel free to substitute regular ground turkey, ground beef, ground, pork ground chicken, or even ground venison. Any ground meat will taste great!
  • Veggies – To save time, we use bagged coleslaw mix with shredded cabbage and carrots. However, broccoli slaw will also work. Then, we add red pepper, green onions, and garlic for extra bulk and flavor.
  • Soy Sauce – Adds a delicious salty, umami taste. We recommend low-sodium soy sauce! If you need to keep this recipe gluten-free, feel free to use coconut aminos or tamari instead!
  • Ginger – We use ginger powder, but minced ginger or ginger paste is just fine, too.

Notes

Ingredient Tips – Depending on the brand of ingredients, the spice and flavor level of this egg roll bowl will vary. Coconut aminos and 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder suite our tastebuds, but some may need more salt and more of a punch of flavor from low sodium soy sauce and 1 teaspoon ground ginger. The brand of turkey sausage makes a difference too as they are all seasoned differently.

  1. We love this recipe! We take out the ginger and add just a little bit of sesame oil and toasted sesame seeds. I can never seem to make enough to have for lunches the next day. ????
Thanks so much for a great recipe!

    1. Woohoo! THANK YOU for taking the time to tell me and sharing how you made this yummy recipe your own. I love reading recipe reviews like this one.<----Insert happy dance! Blessings to you and your family, Tiffany. 🙂

  2. Hello! I was wondering how many smart points each serving would be? (if its posted here I apologize for asking, but I don’t see it! thanks!)

    1. Hi Mel, no worries! You didn’t miss it. I am not sure how many smart points per serving. Perhaps someone at WW could assist you as I am not familiar with calculating points. I hope you enjoy this recipe! Blessings to you on your healthy journey. 🙂

    2. I used Jennie O turkey sausage, which is 2 points for 2 ozs. All other ingredients are 0 points. So it depends on many servings you make it into. If you make it 4 servings, then it would 4 points per serving.

  3. I made this and I loved it! However that could be because I used spicy ground pork, which is probably not very healthy (there was a lot of grease). I can’t seem to find “spicy ground turkey sausage” in any grocery store. Would I be able to make my own? I can find plain ground turkey. What kind of spices are we talking about?

    1. Hi Laura! I am so glad you loved this dish 🙂 If you can find plain ground turkey sausage add crushed red pepper flakes, onion & garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper, and maybe a little cayenne pepper powder for a little more heat. I have used the plain variety and added these spices and the recipe turned out just as delicious 🙂 I am just all about the easiest and healthiest route so I try to buy the “premade” spicy kind! 😉 Blessings to you! I hope this helps.

      1. I am always looking for quick recipes and this one looks awesome but i only have ground beef on hand, do you think that will change the flavor profile too much?

        1. Hi Janette! Ground beef will be just fine. I would add some dried red pepper flakes/cayenne pepper/chili pepper to your beef as it browns to give it a little more flavor. If your egg roll bowl is a lacking in flavor, add in a little more garlic and onion at the end! I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

  4. This was delicious! We didn’t even miss having the wrappers! Substituted ground turkey for the turkey sausage and added a few sesame seeds on top- yum! Thank you!!

    1. Wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe experience, Kristin. 🙂 It is good to know that ground turkey can be used as a substitution with much success. YUM! Blessings to you!
