Easy Strawberry Lemonade Recipe

Who doesn’t love a refreshing glass of freshly made strawberry lemonade? Something about it always makes us feel like a kid again!

However, the powdered, lemon-flavored options just don’t taste as good as they used to. So, these days we make our own pink lemonade from scratch. Turns out, it’s super easy! All you need are four ingredients, and you’ll have a sweet, tart drink.

Did we mention it’s low-sugar and full of nutrients, too? Oh, yes! Go ahead and pour yourself a second glass. It’s good for you.

What’s in Homemade Strawberry Lemonade

  • Lemons – Use whole, fresh lemons, and juice them yourself. Or, opt for bottled lemon juice.
  • Strawberries – Choose large, ripe strawberries from your local farmer’s market or grocery store.
  • Monk Fruit Sweetener – Granulated sugar will also work, but we love monk fruit sweetener to keep this recipe virtually sugar-free!
  • Water – This combines and dilutes all the ingredients. Feel free to adjust to taste.

How to Make Strawberry Lemonade from Scratch

  1. Slice the lemons in half, and juice them into a large mason jar, creating fresh squeezed lemon juice.
  2. Slice off the tops of the strawberry, and add the fruit to a blender along with ½ cup of water.
  3. Pulse to puree the strawberries until smooth.
  4. Place a fine mesh sieve over the mason jar, and pour the puréed strawberries into it, removing any seeds or large chunks.
  5. Stir in the sweetener, making sure it dissolves completely. Taste and adjust as needed to achieve the perfect balance of lemonade taste and strawberry flavor.
  6. Chill in the fridge, or pour over ice. Garnish with lemon slices for a festive summer drink.

Flavor Variations if You’re Feeling Fancy

Feel free to experiment and make this recipe your own! Some of our favorite ways to switch it up include:

  • Adding more monk fruit sweetener, simple syrup, maple syrup, or honey for an ultra-sweet drink.
  • Swapping the final cups of water with sparkling water for a bubbly beverage.
  • Stirring in fresh mint, rosemary, or lavender for an herbaceous taste.

Can You Freeze Fresh Lemonade?

Yes, believe it or not, you can freeze this recipe! To do so, combine the lemon juice, strawberry puree, and sweetener.

Then, transfer the mixture to a freezer bag, or spoon it into an ice cube tray. Freeze until solid, and store for up to five months.

To serve, thaw the strawberry lemonade concentrate in the fridge. Then, add the remaining water, and enjoy!

Can I Use Frozen Strawberries?

We recommend sticking with fresh strawberries. Frozen berries tend to lose some of their flavor and can be a bit mushy.
