  • Ground Turkey Sausage – Feel free to substitute regular ground turkey, ground beef, ground, pork ground chicken, or even ground venison. Any ground meat will taste great!
  • Veggies – To save time, we use bagged coleslaw mix with shredded cabbage and carrots. However, broccoli slaw will also work. Then, we add red pepper, green onions, and garlic for extra bulk and flavor.
  • Soy Sauce – Adds a delicious salty, umami taste. We recommend low-sodium soy sauce! If you need to keep this recipe gluten-free, feel free to use coconut aminos or tamari instead!
  • Ginger – We use ginger powder, but minced ginger or ginger paste is just fine, too.

  1. This is similar to a recipe I created a while back. I didn’t set out to create a recipe but use leftovers. It was so good it ended up as a go to recipe. Since this is so close to mine I would like to add that the following can be safely added true sweet chili sauce, fish sauce[very very small amount].This also is quite usable with other meats including fish seafood chicken beef. If you decide to use pork make sure its either marinated or seasoned. It has a tendency to get lost in the dish otherwise.

  2. Thanks for sharing! I tried it tonight and really enjoyed it! However, I found it to have a very salty taste. My guess is that it’s due to the soy sauce I used or I screwed something up when mixing everything. 🙂 Has anyone experienced this as well? Any ideas on how to counteract it?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Kasee! Thanks for taking the time to leave your comment. 🙂 I am glad you enjoyed the recipe, although you found it to be too salty. My guess is maybe you added more than 1/4 cup soy sauce, used a little less veggies than I did, or your meat was already pretty salty. Maybe the saltiness was due to one of those 3 things or I do think different soy sauces can taste “saltier” than others, or maybe that is just me. Ha! Perhaps if you make it again, you can use less soy sauce and add more if needed. Happy cooking and thanks again for stopping by! 🙂

  3. Made this tonight and it was delicious!!! I eat everything, but even my husband and two year old even ate until they were full. My daughter even said “good meat!” and she is a strict veggie/ fruit fan. I had regular ginger and garlic powder which i used instead of what the recipe called for, and i added lo mein noodles to make it more “mealy”. Will definitely make this again for its ease and flavor.

    1. That’s a great idea to add lo mein noodles. Thanks for the suggestion, Laura. So happy to hear of your positive recipe experiences with even a veggie/fruit fan. 😉 Blessings to you and your family!

  4. I have been on a health journey to heal my body and most recently started a low histamine diet. I was SO excited to find this recipe because I was craving Chinese food and knew I couldn’t eat out. This dish was so quick and SO satisfying!!! So thankful I found it.

  5. I totally made this and totally didn’t at the same time. I didn’t have turkey sausage but I had regular ground turkey. It was amazing. I added some extra garlic and sage and it was hit! My boys (husband and son) don’t like egg rolls but ate the heck out of this! I’ll make it again with sausage.

And you’re just cute as a button!!

    Thanks for sharing with us!!

    1. Girl, you just made my day! Seriously! Thank you for leaving such a kind comment and sharing your recipe experience. It’s good to know ground turkey works well in this too! You rock! I will have to add sage next time. YUM! Blessings to you! 🙂

  6. Quick question about the garlic. Seems like a lot. Will it taste like a garlic dish or does the flavor blend in. I am looking forward to making this… thanks for sharing.

    1. Hi Julie,

Thanks for your question. 5 cloves of garlic is what the recipe calls for, but you can always use less. 🙂 The recipe makes quite a bit and I don’t think the garlic is overpowering. However, I am sure my garlic cloves are on the smaller side, rather than 5 huge cloves. Use your best judgement regarding your affection for garlic. 😉 I hope you enjoy this yummy recipe!

  7. What could I substitute to make this vegan? I have a friend that was put on a vegan diet and I was thinking of making this. Do you think that tofu could be used instead of the meat?

    1. I used Yves veggie cuisine spicy Italian sausage. You don’t have to use all 4 sausages it will give it flavour and I switched up the hot sauce for a drizzle of seame oil ????
